Chemistry.com is the other popular matchmaking-based service in the US (with the most popular being eHarmony). The point of Chemistry.com it is to provide you matches based on personality as opposed to having you browse to through hundreds of profiles and randomly picking the people you feel you will get along best with.
I’m going to break this review down into a few sections: first I will talk about signing up and using the service itself, especially the guided communication. Then [...]

It has been recently announced that Match.com will become the official online dating site for Yahoo!. As a part of this change, Yahoo! Personals will be offering its current members the opportunity to move to a new co-branded dating service that will be called “Match.com on Yahoo!”.

eHarmony has recently added a new feature to its online dating service. This feature further enhances your profile when other singles view it by helping provide (not surprisingly) something for the two of you to talk about.

A new dating sites, OneGuyOneGirl, claims to simplify online dating by removing most of the decisions required when dating online. From their site:
Your average dating site is saturated by thousands, or even millions of people all with the same goal of meeting the person perfect for them. But with that many people on one site, it can be an impossible task to search through everyone in order to find that person who matches your personality, your lifestyle…
…we simply display One [...]

In the U.S., Maryland is considering changing the law on how marriage brokering web sites (think “Russian brides”) would work. The idea is that there would be much more controls placed around these sites that could in some way be debilitating to them. Recently I was reading a post that claimed that Facebook was saved by one line of text in this bill (HB65).
Facebook (and services like it) are explicitly excluded as the article correctly points out. However, the [...]

Below is a chart listing online dating site prices. This table has been created to be used as a reference and to give singles an idea of how much each dating service might cost. These prices may change at any time so be sure to verify the actual cost before you subscribe to any service.
Notes on Pricing
Keep in mind that services that charge more often have earned the right to do so. For example, even though eHarmony prices are some [...]

This article asks the question: Can Twitter replace online dating sites? My first thought to this prior to reading the article was: weren’t people asking this same question about MySpace a few years ago? As I had mentioned back then, people also meet in grocery stores but that doesn’t mean grocery stores are going to replace bars, clubs or singles events. And so my first thought to this question was a resounding “No”.
However, after reading the article I’ll say that [...]

Over at Mashable, there was a poll that asked users which was better: Match.com or Plenty of Fish. Their results showed that, at least among their readers, that Plenty of Fish is the better service. I find this rather disturbing: I look at (or read about) dating services almost every day and I have to say that Plenty of Fish is absolutely my least favorite dating service. My article on 5 Signs Your Dating Service Might Suck was actually based [...]

Earlier this month the Spark Networks, which owns several dating services, re-branded two of their largest dating services into a new, single service. Starting on January 15th, American Singles and Date.ca are now a single service called Spark.com.
The combination of these two services into one wasn’t the only change: the new service is a major revamp of the old services they offered previously. Of particular note, the following are the stand-out changes to the service:
1. Photos Are Required
Everyone must have [...]

How much does it cost to join Chemistry.com? As with some other dating services, Chemistry.com is careful not to reveal their pricing until you’ve signed up and taken the personality test. This can be annoying since the test can take over 30 minutes and after you’ve spent that time finding out you can’t afford the service is frustrating. Chemistry.com subscription pricing and cost are listed below.
Chemistry.com Subscription Prices:
1 Month: $49.95
3 Months: $33.32 a month (for a total of $99.96)
6 Months: [...]

What is the best dating service on the internet? This is a popular question and that makes sense since none of us want to waste our time or money with a bad dating service. The answer to this question, though, isn’t a simple one.
It’s All About Your Situation
My thought on this is that there is no universally “best” dating service. Each individual’s situation will determine what is best for them. For example, when I started dating online, the “best” dating [...]

What Can You Tell From a Dating Profile Photo?
Single Parent Gossip has an interesting article that discusses how we can detect personality traits just by viewing a picture of someone. The implication here is that if you’ve ever looked at a person’s online dating photos and suspected you would (or wouldn’t!) get along with them, you may subconsciously be picking up on some of their character traits. The article is very interesting and if you’re a single parent the entire [...]

Apparently Chemistry.com has been running promotions to increase the number of women using their site. I would assume this is because the ratio of women to men using the dating service needed improved. Well, it looks as if they were a little too successful. Now they have a much higher female to male ratio and they’re in a position where they need to try to correct this.
Here’s the current message they’re sending out to guys:
Online dating sites very rarely [...]

If you’re new to online dating or just wondering if the service you’re using is worth it, here are some signs that it’s time to retire your current dating site and find another.
1. There are advertisements for other dating services
If you walked into a car dealership looking to buy a car, wouldn’t it be strange if the salesman tried to convince you to buy a car from his competition? If Coca-Cola sold their bottles with advertisements for Pepsi on them, [...]

Nielsen released numbers in June of this year showing which online dating sites were receiving the most traffic. During that month, there were close to 30 million unique visitors across the sites they were tracking…obviously online dating is becoming more popular all the time. The following are a list of the top ten sites based on the data they collected.
10. AOL Personals (Unique visitors in June 2009: 957,000)
Personally, I don’t think this one should count as a dating site at [...]

A friend of mine tried out the Match.com 6 Month Guaranteeprogram where if you don’t meet that “special someone”, you will get 6 months free. Unfortunately, when he came to the end of his six months they said he didn’t qualify even though, as far as he could tell, he did. I checked online for anyone else having this problem and found this post on RipoffReport.com. I decided to look into this program and the rules are (basically) as [...]
