Earlier this week the CEO of eHarmony resigned for uncited reasons. At first I was surprised because I thought this was who the article was talking about:

Turns out that while Dr. Neil Clark Warren (pictured above) was the founder of eHarmony, he is not the CEO. The CEO was Gregory Waldorf, one of the founding investors.

Just a quick post to let everyone know that eHarmony is having another free event (the second one this December) starting December 27th 2010 and running until 11:59PM on January 2nd 2011. Note that this is a guided event – the rules for what this means are described here.

This article might be better called “the apparent rules for eHarmony free events”. I say this because eHarmony can change the rules of their free events and weekends anytime they choose.

eHarmony is having a 10-Day Free Communication Weekend for the United States from November 5th to 14th, 2010. The free 10-day event begins Friday, November 5th at 12:01am and runs until Sunday, November 14th at 11:59pm. Even though eHarmony refers to their events as “Weekends” this event is truly 10 days long.

eHarmony Canada is having a free communication weekend for the entire month of November. From November 1st to November 30th, Canadian eHarmony user’s will be able to use guided communication for free. eHarmony is still calling this a free weekend even though it’s 30 days but just know that it is the full month!

eHarmony Canada is having a free weekend starting this Friday the 8th at 12:01am and running until Monday the 11th at 11:59pm.

Try the eHarmony free weekend.

In this case, eHarmony has separated the U.S. and Canada free events into two separate promotions (although your guess is as good as my as to why). The U.S. event is running a full ten days, although we’re in the middle of that event right now. You can see more about the U.S. event here.

Update October 3rd: A reader has contacted me and confirmed that this free event only includes the guided communication steps. The email step is excluded. This makes the free event much less useful although not useless: if you can get several conversations to the email phase by the end of the event, it could help you decide if signing up would be worth it or not. It’s a small silver-lining but it’s still there.
