It has been a year of romance for our much-loved celebrities. However much we enjoy reading about scandals and dramatic break-ups in the tabloids, it’s always great to see a functioning celebrity couple standing loved-up on the red carpet. It’s an inspiration to every one of us, whether we’re looking for love on free dating sites or are happily married. Here are a few famous duos who have shined through this year’s headlines…

I wanted to wish all of my readers a happy holidays. If you’re a frequent reader and are still single, I know that being alone during the holidays can be difficult but, having been there myself, I believe it can get better if you stay persistent. With 2011 heading towards us, now is the perfect time to think about the commitment you can make to find a great relationship. I offer my opinion on the best way to do this [...]

Apparently, if you’re not finding enough dates all you need to do is learn some magic! At least according to this guy from the 80s (or maybe 90s?). I thought this video was pretty funny:

I’m not a big fan on relationship quizzes but the geek in me couldn’t pass up the super-hero relationship quiz at ComicVine.com. I matched 100% with Batgirl which I’m not so sure is a good thing based on the description! Actually, I think if my wife sees that description she might not like it either!
There a quiz for both the guys and the gals out there of any orientation:
Date a Super-Hero Chick
Date a Super-Hero Dude

Here in Pittsburgh it seems like we’ve been under several feet of snow for several months now. Not only that, I actually managed to be in Philadelphia last December when they were covered with the blizzard that happened then (little did we know it would only be the start of all the snow they’d be seeing!). Today the snow is starting to melt and I hope that trend continues. Parking on my street is a real nightmare! Fortunately, Pittsburgh residents [...]

With the release of the iPad today, I thought I would write about how much I love the Kindle 2. Everywhere I go online today I see the majority of people blogging or twittering about how the Kindle has all but been replaced. Really, any time Apple releases a new product the hype can get pretty crazy (and with a track-record like theirs it’s no surprise).
Now that I’ve seen the iPad, I suspect that Amazon’s first thought on seeing [...]

I found this image and thought it was great. I suppose many readers may not get this…but then again when World of Warcraft has millions of subscribers I guess more than a few will get it. This one may ring a little too true for some of us! Having an MMO background (played Everquest for years starting at its launch and it still has a warm place in my heart), I can totally understand this. Some of these games are [...]

With some extra time over the holiday, I was looking for a new game to play and decided to look into Torchlight. My first impression when researching the game and looking at the screenshots was that it appeared to be a more cartoonish Diablo. Having now played for a few hours, I can say that this impression is correct.
As with my experience with the Diablo series, Torchlight offers a lot of fun with single player dungeon crawling. The first few [...]

A Wired article discusses a New York Times article that discusses one professor’s call to ban the words geek and nerd. From the article at NYT:
But David Anderegg, a professor of psychology at Bennington College, says that merely mentioning terms like nerd or geek serves to perpetuate the stereotype. The words are damaging, much like racial epithets, he says, and should be avoided.
This blows my mind because, as both a geek and a nerd, I have to say that these [...]

While researching other dating sites, I stumbled upon PoorMatch.com. At first glance I thought I must be reading something wrong…but then I realized it was a big online dating parody. A really, really funny parody at that (we’re talking The Onion kind of funny). If you’re frustrated due to online dating, check out Poor Match for a few laughs to lighten the mood. Every page has great jokes, some that are harder to spot than others.
A few of my favorites [...]

I was excited to learn this week that HBO will begin filming its adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones. This is the first in the series A Song of Ice and Fire which is probably my favorite series of books around. However, all my excitement regarding the filming has led me back to a familiar feeling of frustration that I haven’t felt since the second half of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series.
My problems with Mr. Jordan [...]
