Chemistry.com is having another free communication weekend. This free event begins on Friday January 13th and runs until the end of the day on Sunday, January 15th 2012 (so all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday are free with this event).

The last Chemistry free weekend was in December and Chemistry continues to provide more free events than its competitors (well, at least those I’m aware of). As I’ve talked about in several recent posts, this is a great time of year to try online dating because this is when the services tend to have the most people using them. If you’ve never tried Chemistry in the past, this weekend will be the perfect time to see what it’s all about.

eHarmony Free Weekend: Dec 30th to January 2nd, 2012

eHarmony will be having a free communication weekend to ring in the New Year. This free event starts on Friday December 30th, 2011 and will run until January 2nd, 2012.

If you’ve signed up for a free account at eHarmony, you should get emails stating when these free weekends are starting. I’ve not received an official email yet about this free weekend but eHarmony Jack, eHarmony’s twitter guy, has been talking about it and I’ve also heard the TV commercials are now playing for the free event.

If you’ve been on the fence about trying eHarmony, it could be the perfect time to try during the free weekend. This is mostly because we’re headed into the busiest time for online dating and there will be more people looking to date (thanks to some New Year’s resolutions).

Chemistry.com Free Weekend Dec 2 – 4, 2011

Once again Chemistry.com is having a free communication weekend. This free weekend event starts this Friday December 2nd and runs until Sunday, December 4th 2011. This event will start at 12:01AM on the 2nd and will end at 11:59PM on the 4th (in other words, you get all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday with this free event).

The last Chemistry free weekend was in October and through-out this year Chemistry has proven to be more reliable than other dating services for these free events. That said, even Chemistry.com is having these free event far less often than they did in 2010…so I’m not sure if the free weekends are falling out of favor or if something else is going on.

Chemistry.com Free Weekend Oct 14 – 16 2011

Chemistry.com is a free weekend starting on October 14th and running until October 16th 2011. This event will start at 12:01AM on the 14th and will end at 11:59PM on the 16th (so basically the entirety of all three days are free).

Chemistry is one of the few major online dating services that has semi-frequent free events so if you’d like to try out a dating service without having to subscribe, this will be one of those opportunities to try. eHarmony Free Weekend: Sept 2nd to Sept 5th 2011

eHarmony is having a free weekend starting September 2nd and running until September 5th 2011. The free event will begin at the start of Friday the 2nd (right at midnight) and will run until 11:59PM on Monday the 5th. This free event is open to residents in the U.S. and Canada.

This is the first free weekend in over 3 months with the last happening back at the end of May. I’ve receiving quite a few emails over the summer from readers wondering when the next free weekend was going to be and if the number of contacts I’ve received are any measure, I expect this weekend to have a lot of people logging into eHarmony.

PerfectMatch Free Communication Weekend: July 1st to 4th

PerfectMatch is having a free communication weekend starting today, July 1st and running through Monday July 4th (I’m assuming the free time will end at 11:59PM on Monday as most other free events operate this way).

Note: The PerfectMatch sign-up page didn’t talk much about this free event but when I logged into my account I saw this (the middle section is the important part):

If you’re not familiar with this service, you’ll want to check out my full review of PerfectMatch.

I believe the entire service should be free although some other services that offer free weekends do limit certain areas (such as seeing photos). I’m not sure if PerfectMatch has any rules like this but they are stating you will be able to do the following:

Communicate with your matches (called PerfectMatches – these are the personality based matches)
Search and email for free. Unlike other match-based dating services, PerfectMatch also allows you to browse and contact anyone – I assume this is what they are referring to.

Based on my assumptions, this is a great opportunity to try all the areas of PerfectMatch. Unfortunately my weekend is super busy or I would be verifying my assumptions above…if any readers are able to verify this by leaving a comment I’d appreciate it!

Chemistry Free Communication Weekend June 17 – 19, 2011

Chemistry.com is having a free communication weekend starting on Friday, June 17th as 12AM and running until Sunday, June 19th at 11:59PM. This means that so far for the year of 2011, Chemistry has had a free event every month excluding one (April was skipped for some reason).

These events are a great time to try out the service because it’s free (obviously) but also because there will be a larger number of singles trying out the service on the free weekend. Also, Chemistry opens up their entire service for these free weekends (where some other other online dating services have free events but with limited functionality). When Is the Best Time to Use the 3 Day Promotion?

While I don’t imagine there is an official “best” time to use a promo like this I’ll give you my opinion and offer when I would use it if I were still single. I make my suggestion base on running this website and it comes down to this: I see a huge spike in traffic to this site every Sunday and lasting through Monday.

Every single Sunday there’s a spike for dating advice at this site and it is maintained through Monday. By Tuesday my traffic is at the “normal” level (Friday has the lowest traffic if you’re curious…by a good amount too).

So assuming that people are looking for online dating advice at the same time that they are using their online dating service, I would argue that the best time to sign-up for the 3-day promotion would be Sunday morning. This will give you the two (theoretically) busiest days of the week. I suspect that prior to running this website I would have been inclined to sign-up on a Friday but now that looks like the worst day to try.

Why This Promotion is Better Than It Sounds

There are some dating services with longer free promotions and other sites have reoccurring events, such as the eHarmony free weekends. That being said, I still feel like this is a solid promo to test out PerfectMatch. I feel this way because PerfectMatch allows you to contact anyone you want. Many of the other free promotions or events are for services that limit who you can contact.

So don’t let the lower number of days cause too much concern: 3 days should be plenty of time to give PerfectMatch a try and it’s even enough time to find yourself a first date or two (if you’re lucky and persistent!)

eHarmony Free Weekend: May 27th to May 30th 2011

I just found out that eHarmony is having a free communication weekend from May 27th to May 30th, 2011. I hadn’t heard anything regarding this free event but when I looked at eHarmony’s twitter page this morning I saw they were promoting it (so perhaps this is the new place to watch for free event information).

It looks like this free weekend will follow the original rules of the eHarmony events where you can communicate through the entire process, including email. If any readers discover I’m wrong on this please let me know. Chemistry.com is having another free weekend from May 13th to May 15th, 2011. The free weekend will start this Friday morning and will run until the end of Sunday. To learn more about these events see my article on Chemistry’s free weekends.

It’s been several months since the last free weekend for Chemistry (or other dating sites for that matter). That might not mean anything but it might also mean that those who are used to taking advantage of the free weekends have been waiting extra long for this one. This could cause this to be one of the busier free weekends, although time will tell. Best of luck to anyone who decides to give it a try this weekend.
