Have I mentioned that your dating profile photo is pretty important? Yeah…apparently these folks didn’t get the memo: 25 Weird Dating Site Pictures
Referring to these photos as “weird” is being nice in my opinion. I’m not actually convinced that all of these photos are real. Even if only a few of them are legit that still means there are people out there who think these kinds of photos will work (or there are people creating profiles as a joke). Your [...]

Funny or Die has a hilarious parody of speed dating. Not sure how they decided on Werner Herzog (whom I wasn’t familiar with) and Bjork but I thought it was great.

This article asks the question: Can Twitter replace online dating sites? My first thought to this prior to reading the article was: weren’t people asking this same question about MySpace a few years ago? As I had mentioned back then, people also meet in grocery stores but that doesn’t mean grocery stores are going to replace bars, clubs or singles events. And so my first thought to this question was a resounding “No”.
However, after reading the article I’ll say that [...]

How To Sleep Alone
The Dating Papers offers some general advice on how to sleep alone. I’ll admit that when I was single I had a bad habit of staying up as late as possible…sleeping alone just isn’t fun. Still, you’ve got to do it sometime. This article offers some advice for this.
Co-Sleeping
This article discusses a rather…humorous…part of sharing the bed with someone and asks how to handle a potentially awkward situation while spooning.

Little White Profile Lies
This Washington Post article discusses some of the most common lies in dating profiles: height and weight. It also states that 8 out of 10 profiles have some type of lie in it. When I was dating online I had plenty of first dates but only one where the woman I met had blatantly lied about her appearance…so if 80% of people are lying I think most of those lies must be pretty small, at least based [...]

As I am frequent to complain about, finding really good dating advice can be difficult. I’ve found some good sources and I try to list them as I find them here. However far, far too many sites offer the “how to seduce a woman” type of advice that really isn’t helping anyone (excluding whoever is selling the advice, and there is almost always a price). This is the type of dating advice that discourages singles more than it helps them [...]

I’m always looking for new, interesting, well-written dating articles to share with my readers. I’ll let you in on a little secret: the internet is full of crap. For every good article I find, there’s a dozen other sites that offer absolutely nothing. Almost all of these sites are intentionally bad in the sense that the goal is not to assist readers in any way. Apparently the authors of much of this drivel are very good at marketing their sites [...]

Do You Have A Dating Addiction?
Steve at SeaCoastOnline.com discusses addictions in general and specifically the idea of having a dating addiction. If you date online long enough you will probably run into someone who seems to have a little too many dating stories. You might find yourself wondering, “Exactly how long has this person been dating online?”. My opinion is that dating addictions exist and that online dating can actually encourage this activity. If I’m honest, when I met Kate [...]

Hey, You’re Like Me!
The writer of this article takes a foray into the online dating world and decides that everyone is looking for…themselves. Speaking personally, I find this difficult to agree with. The idea that the common thread of online dating searches are done to find people just like ourselves is something I did not experience (neither in my searching nor in those contacting me). Still, for those out there who are searching for others based on a little too [...]

As If You Needed Another Reason To Want A Great Dating Profile
OKCupid is current running a contest called Who Has the Best Online Dating Profile? Both members and non-members can vote on the profiles they think are best (it’s split into several categories). The winner will end up with $250 which is not too shabby considering you’d want a great profile regardless! If you want to enter your OKCupid profile inot the contest or [...]

I’ve not had much to say lately…and by lately I mean for the last year or so. I always had a vision for my site: share what I had learned from online dating with others. Once I had posted all the concrete examples I had to share I found myself looking for excuses to post (and I don’t feel like these posts were all that helpful). Eventually I decided to stop posting, allowing to let the site continue on as-is. [...]

Near the end of my online dating, I discovered that sharing my dating experiences with my dates really opened the discussion up. Not only that, these candid conversations also opened my eyes to the absolute hassle women have to go through and gave me a glimpse of how they felt about online dating in general. Eventually, I found I was even enjoying dates where there was no “spark” because we became fast friends sharing our online dating experiences. Since my [...]

Since I started this site a few months ago, I’ve been actively looking for great resources that I could share here. Unfortunately, almost everything I have found online has fallen into one of three categories:
Overly general advice that feels extremely polished and impersonal. For example, the type of advice I would expect to see in a Maxim magazine (but less humorous). I find it hard to put much confidence into something that reads as if a team of writers tried [...]

I am always hesitant to give women advice for online dating. Primarily, this is based on conversations I had with dates during my internet dating days. One great conversation starter was to simply talk about the online experience itself. These conversations revealed how very different a woman’s experiences were from mine, although many were similar to one another. While I would compare my experience to searching for that needle in the haystack, these women had experiences more comparable to trudging [...]

Earlier this year, I was trying to determine if there was any use for a blog like this. If the web was saturated with every other person’s opinion on how online dating is best approached, I’d skip it. Specifically, I was searching for dating sites that provided a significant amount of advice. Most of the dating sites I found were fine but I disagreed with how some of them recommended a person find dating success. It’s not that I think [...]

Perhaps the only downside to consistent success dating online (or any dating, really) is that all that courting starts to hit the wallet pretty hard. I eventually settled on meeting at coffee shops which was cheap but lacked creativity and fun. This article has some great ideas for cheap dates without making sacrifices on enjoyability. Several of these would not work very well in the early dates so use your head! In my opinion, the best first date options listed [...]

As the name suggests, 100bestdatingsites.com is a list of dating services rated for usability and features. The dating sites are rated based on ease-of-use, honest business practices, etc. Personally, I stuck with the best known companies when dating online because I believed this would give me the best odds (I assumed the best known would have the most members). Regardless, this site does offer a lot of value as he has ensured the validatity of each service (i.e., it’s not [...]
