Haha...that's in interesting way of phrasing it! But I can definitely relate to some of your experiences (although I do like Match.com a lot and met my wife using it). I agree there are some guys out there that make things much more difficult for the serious guys and eHarmony's system all but removes spam-every-girl-I-see approach.

Good article and I agree with most everything mentioned. From a males perspective on things and being new to online dating I'd have to say eHarmony is the better site if you're the type looking for a long term relationship and looking to get a response from your matches. I was on Match.com and to be quite honest it's a complete pain in the ass trying to seperate yourself from all the creeper spam most girls receive. I'm not trying to sound narcissistic to any degree but I'm a decent looking guy and even with somewhat attractive looks I got way less response on Match.com as compared to eHarmony. And I honestly think that's due to the fact that most of your matches on eHarmony aren't constantly being bombarded with Hey you're sexy hot mail. That type of stuff ruins it for all guys. Since I joined eHarmony most of my matches are willing to send me ice breakers and initiate contact which was a rarity on Match.com. In all honesty Match.com is like a zoo of caged animals banging on the door to let them out of their cage while eHarmony is much more inviting and seems to play on a more personal level. I think the latter is much more inviting for females to feel comfortable with and openly communicate. But all this has been just from my experience and may differ for others.

The people dating online that I talk with generally have more success with pay sites than with free sites. It's not always about being weird. Sometimes it's more about the fact that when we invest in something we take it far more seriously.

That said, as I talk about in my guide, I think we should use every option available to us. I would always recommend having an account at a free site like OKCupid whether you are using a site like Match/eHarmony or not. I agree that we should be open to all the options.

I am not sure if paid online dating site is any better than 'free' ones. I did try both type of services and I found my partner on a 'free dating site' ... Though my friend is a firm believer of paid site since she believes that those free sites attract 'weirdos'. My personal opinion to you is we all have chance of meeting weirdos in bars, shopping centers and even in offices in our everyday life anyway, so might as well try everything and see where the life takes you.
