In my series on online dating scams and liars, I discussed a theory that sometime accounts are created simply to get personal information from other members and then spam them. According to this article, it looks like my theory might not be far from the truth. In this case, it was actually employees of the dating service that were using profile data for spam.

Ashley Madison Sued by Person of the Same Name
Apparently Ashley Madison the person is suing Ashley Madison the dating service due to the embarrassment of having the same name. Am I the only one who finds it odd the site has person’s name in the first place? Since it’s a site for cheating I suppose they’d want a mundane name but a woman’s name? Regardless, based on the article it doesn’t sound like Ashley Madison the woman has much of a case if Ashley Madison the dating service is to be believe. Apparently she adopted the stage name Ashley Madison in 2005, three years after the service had started.
