In a recent article, I discussed how to dress for a first date. However, even when you know what to wear in general, there are times where it’s not clear if a particular outfit is worth wearing. We often second guess our opinion on the outfit and either decided not to wear or we wear it but worry all night long. In both cases, we can end up regretting our decision.
I’ve seen it recommended to upload a photo of yourself [...]

Another year is about to begin and it’s time for people to begin making New Year’s resolutions. There are plenty of popular choices like losing weight, quitting smoking, or even trying to read more books. I would like to recommend to singles out there to see finding that special someone as your resolution this year.
Many people don’t see dating as something they would need a resolution to do. I think this is often a mistake. As veterans of online dating [...]

Another funny parody site along the same lines as PoorMatch.com, here’s ZombieHarmony. This is actually run by Mingle2, a free dating site. I think their main goal here was to drive traffic to their main site so this parody isn’t nearly as funny as PoorMatch.com but it’s still amusing.
With the Twilight craze going on right now, I can’t help but feel that Mingle2 chose the incorrect undead beings to use to generate traffic. I decided to check to see if [...]

eHarmony is very committed to their matching system. The site takes the approach that it would be better to give its members no matches than to give them bad matches. eHarmony will even reject applicants that they feel they can’t provide adequate matches to. In some ways, it’s good to see eHarmony being so honest but it does cause problems. If you’re not getting any matches, a number of things could be happening.
When I used eHarmony, I was living in [...]

With some extra time over the holiday, I was looking for a new game to play and decided to look into Torchlight. My first impression when researching the game and looking at the screenshots was that it appeared to be a more cartoonish Diablo. Having now played for a few hours, I can say that this impression is correct.
As with my experience with the Diablo series, Torchlight offers a lot of fun with single player dungeon crawling. The first few [...]

Some people think about dating online but put it off because they want to improve something about themselves before they start. I don’t have any statistics but I think it’s safe to assume the number one reason for this is to attempt to lose weight. Do I believe this is a good idea? Should a person lose weight before subjecting themselves to online dating?
In my opinion, the answer is no (with one small exception). Why is waiting a mistake?
First, going [...]

What do you do if you create an online dating profile and someone you know ends up asking you out? This can be an awkward situation, especially if you’re not interested. For example, if you work together, you’ll likely want to avoid making life awkward for yourself with outright rejection or by ignoring them. How do let them down easily without creating a difficult situation?
The easiest way out would be to claim that you’re afraid that the dating someone [...]

A Wired article discusses a New York Times article that discusses one professor’s call to ban the words geek and nerd. From the article at NYT:
But David Anderegg, a professor of psychology at Bennington College, says that merely mentioning terms like nerd or geek serves to perpetuate the stereotype. The words are damaging, much like racial epithets, he says, and should be avoided.
This blows my mind because, as both a geek and a nerd, I have to say that these [...]

Today the fasting growing group among web daters is the 50-plus crowd. I can attest that in the last year I’ve seen a big spike in dating questions from this group (actually, I can’t remember any contact from this demographic prior to 2009). As this article points out, eHarmony, Match.com and Lavalife have all seen significant growth in the 50-plus crowd in the last few years.
I’m not surprised by this as online dating is opening doors previously not available. [...]

Once again, eHarmony is having a free “weekend” although in this case the weekend is five full days. From Wednesday December 30th 2009 to Sunday January 3rd 2010 all users will be able to communicate freely.
This is only the second time in the last six months that eHarmony has provided a free event lasting more than a weekend (the last time was back in October). It may appear that I’m stating the obvious but these extended events are extremely [...]
