google claim there is nothing a competitor can do to harm you rankings but obviously that isn't true if it doesn't like spammy links, spammy links could easily be created by a competitior with the intention of harming your site.

I found same problem with all in one plugins so I switched to high performance seo plugin in stead works a treat

I think I saw problems for somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks. It took about a week for Google see my changes once I had “fixed” things.

How long this drop from google search lasted? I am just asking because after a change in my titles i have dropped dramaticaly.

I think you should consider using nofollow tag when using some 301, 302 and 307 redirections.
Google and Yahoo will think all those outlinks are not belong to you

Thanks so much for the thoughts Martin – I’ll look into this now. I’m not immediately seeing anything odd in the cache checker but I’ll keep researching.

I’ll be the first to admit this could be 100% unrelated to the plug-in. The only reason I start with that thought is it was the last change I made before things went bad. And again, I have no idea what I’m doing having just read a single book on the topic. I’m like a guy who gets new tires on his car and then when the engine dies starts screaming about how he’ll never change his tires again. It’s obvious to everyone else the tires were not the problem but to someone who know nothing, that seems like the only answer

Just one other question though: isn’t extremely odd that my site totally recovered it’s traffic for a single day? I think that is the part that is confusing me the most.

Sorry to hear about the sudden drop off in traffic – that’s a real bummer.

I cannot help but feel, though, that this is related to something other than the All-in-one-SEO-pack.

The reason is that under normal circumstances it takes a while for the type of changes the All-in-one makes to reflect in Google’s cache.

And, therefore, it takes a while to affect your traffic.

This sounds more like what happened to Dean Hunt a while ago – which I wrote about here:

You may want to check what Google’s Cache has for your blog. The easiest way to do that is here:

http://www.seoidiot.co.uk/cachechecker/

Entering your blog’s url into the field and hitting ‘check’ will bring back the list of outgoing links that Google has for your site.

Check each of those links carefully and make sure there are no spam links there.
